Dean E. Senner, Chairman, President and CEO
Mr. Senner brings a broad breadth of domestic and international experience in technology, consumer electronics and telecommunications products for both government and commercial markets. Dean was President and CEO of Thales Navigation, Inc. (Magellan GPS Systems), an international company with operations in 13 countries, and over 17,000 retail outlets in more than 100 countries around the world. Dean oversaw the explosive growth of Thales Navigation during his tenure which included the Professional Products division, OEM division, and Consumer Electronics division. In parallel, he served as Chairman of the Board for Navigation Solutions, LLC., a joint venture between Thales Navigation and the Hertz Corporation which owned and operated a large fleet of navigation systems in the Hertz rental car fleet under the Hertz NeverLostTM brand.
Dean has also served as an executive in the defense and aerospace industry with Lockheed Martin. During his tenure, he was Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems company, developing and operating satellite systems for Direct Broadcast (TV), Fixed and Mobile Satellite (Telephony), and Broadband services worldwide. Dean also served as Vice President of Military Satellite Communications Programs for Lockheed Martin developing satellite systems such as MILSTAR, DSCS, GPS IIR, and others. During this time he worked extensively with the Air Force, Navy, Army, and NASA as well as with various special forces, intelligence agencies, and classified customers.
Stan Kazmierczak, CFO and Vice President, Finance
Mr. Kazmierczak combines extensive experience in all aspects of finance, operations, information technology, investor relations, and administration. With over 20 years of financial experience as both a CFO and as a Vice President of Finance, Stan has worked with such companies as Speedera Networks, Vina Technologies Inc., Digital Link Corporation and Verilink Corporation. Stan’s experience in both public and private high-growth companies includes leading two companies through their initial public offering (IPO), and completing multiple acquisitions.
David Abelson, Vice President, Business Development
With over 27 years of experience at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Mr. Abelson rose to Deputy Vice President for International Business Development. His experience covers international business initiatives and opportunities, developing domestic and international markets, and business development management. Dave also served as Vice Chairman for LM Management Association, President of the US Naval Reserve Association (London Chapter), Captain of the Naval Air Reserve, and carrier-based naval aviator.
J. Elon "Buzz" Graves, Vice President, Advanced Optics and Technology
Mr. Graves has over 25 years of experience designing and building the astronomical instrumentation to overcome image degradation from the blurring effects of the Earth’s atmosphere. He has been recognized by the head of the NSF astronomy division and NOAO director of the Gemini project for his contributions to the Gemini Telescope, and by the University of Hawaii as a leading researcher. Mr. Graves holds a B.S. and M.S. in Physics from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Malcolm Northcott, Vice President, Advanced Programs and Technology
A pioneer in the development of software for Adaptive Optics systems, Dr. Northcott brings more than 13 years of experience in astronomy and software design to AOptix. Dr. Northcott participated in the construction of the world's first curvature Adaptive Optics system for the CFH telescope in Hawaii. Along with designing the computer control system including the architecture of the custom electronics, he also wrote all of the software necessary to operate the system. Dr. Northcott also served as an Astronomer at the University of Hawaii, and as a research assistant at the Imperial College in London, where he received his Ph.D. in Applied Optics.
Chandrasekhar Pusarla, Vice President, Engineering
Dr. Pusarla has over 10 years of product development experience in the networking and telecommunications industries and brings technical and management leadership skills to AOptix. He previously worked at Calient Networks, a photonic switching optical networking start-up, rising to the position of Vice President of Engineering. During his tenure at Calient, he was responsible for delivering multiple photonic switching products to market and several software releases to major carriers and service providers. Earlier in his career, Dr. Pusarla held technical and management positions at Corning Inc. and Tyco International Ltd. Dr. Pusarla received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in engineering from University of Maryland at College Park.
Phil Tusa, Vice President, Biometrics Programs
Mr. Tusa is a seasoned veteran in strategic marketing and general management in the security and medical technologies industries. Phil most recently served as VP, Global Marketing for InVision Technologies, where he played a leadership role in formulating the long-term product development roadmap for the company — the leading provider of explosives detection systems in the aviation security industry. Prior to InVision, he was General Manager of the Coherent Medical Aesthetic Business Unit, a leading maker of medical lasers. Early in his career, he spent 12 years in progressively more responsible marketing roles at GE.
David Johnston, Vice President of Market Development, Biometrics Programs
Mr. Johnston has worked in biometrics business development, sales, and marketing since February 1999. He has had a role in many of the technology's most significant developments at IriScan Inc. and Iridian Technologies. Over the course of his tenure at LG, IrisAccess became the world's leading iris-recognition platform. He routinely speaks at leading industry conferences on the evolution and potential of iris-recognition technology. Prior to entering the biometrics industry, David worked in some of the world’s largest consumer marketing firms, managing client relationships, lines of business, and country operations in the US, Southeast Asia, Japan, and France.
Doug McNeil, Vice President of Operations
Mr. McNeil brings years of engineering and manufacturing experience to AOptix. Doug previously served as VP of Engineering for Visyx, where he was responsible for managing the product development team. He has also served as Director of Engineering and Manufacturing Operations for Symyx Technologies, where he helped develop a multi-parametric sensor to support automotive, instrument and process control measurement technologies; and spent four years at Cisco Systems in the Wireless Network Business Unit where he led engineering program management teams. Doug began his career at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, where he led cutting-edge commercial satellite engineering programs. He managed a multi-disciplinary staff of over 180 engineers, business, quality and process integration managers.
